Mr Murphy was set to appear in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 9 October 2015, charged with two indecent assaults and one offence of incitement to gross indecency, committed on a girl aged between 11 and 13, between 1980 and 1984. He faced a further charge of indecent assault on another girl, aged 14, between 1987 and 1989.
