Dr Vijay Mallya’s appeal against his extradition to India will be heard in the UK High Court from 11-13 February 2020.
On 2 July 2019, Dr Mallya was granted his application to appeal the Extradition Order after an oral hearing before a panel of judges. In that hearing, Dr Mallya’s lawyers argued that Senior District Judge Emma Arbuthnot, the Chief Magistrate, who originally granted the Extradition Order, had made serious errors of fact and law. It was also claimed that Dr Mallya held no political opinions but that his actions have been invested with political significance by the Indian government.
