Daniel Burdett arrested in the Hague on Christmas Day

27th Dec 2019

In a co-ordinated effort between the NCA, Merseyside Police and Dutch Police, Daniel Burdett was arrested on Christmas Day in The Hague pursuant to a European Arrest Warrant. Mr Burdett, from Liverpool, was sought by Merseyside Police in connection with 10 charges of conspiracy to import firearms and ammunition and conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs.

Another individual has already been convicted and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment in connection with this investigation, according to an NCA spokesperson. Mr Burdett is alleged to have played a leading role in a gang which used truck drivers to assist in the smuggling of contraband from the Netherlands to the UK.

Mr Burdett will now appear before a Dutch magistrate who will consider the UK’s request for his extradition.
