Eamonn Harrison granted leave to appeal against extradition

13th Feb 2020

A High Court judge in Dublin has granted Eamon Harrison permission to appeal against the decision to order his extradition to the UK last month. Mr Harrison is facing 39 charges of manslaughter and two conspiracy charges in connection with the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrant workers found in a refrigerated container in Essex on 23 October 2019.

Mr Donald Binchy accepted counsel for Mr Harrison’s arguments that the flaws relating to the content and issue of the European Arrest Warrant raised points meriting consideration by a higher court.

He placed a stay on the order for Mr Harrison’s extradition pending the outcome of the appeal proceedings.
