The French Foreign Ministry announced in a statement released yesterday, 3 August, that it will not proceed with the ratification of the extradition agreement between France and Hong Kong, signed on 4 May 2017. The decision was taken in response to the imposition by Beijing of the controversial national security law on the region, which the Ministry said had direct consequences for its citizens and businesses.
